Blaise Castle Wedding
Sam and Luke just totally nailed their Blaise Castle wedding and reception at Westbury-On-Trym Village Hall.
The day started with the girls getting ready in a lovely Air BnB flat in Clifton. It was a particularly fun and relaxed morning, and champagne was definitely free flowing! The bridesmaids helped each other and the lovely Sam get ready, and it was a great time. Sam’s dad’s face when he first sees her in her wedding dress is one of my favourite photos as well!
The ceremony was at the fabulous Blaise Castle House Museum, and in particular the fabulously ornate Picture Room. I just love that you can hold your wedding at Blaise Castle as it’s such a gorgeous venue with amazing grounds! My favourite moment was straight after the ceremony where I caught them having a cheeky hug and kiss before the rest of the guests came out. It was a really lovely moment.
After this, I took them in to the Dairy and Gardens (a special fenced of part of the estate that isn’t normally open to the public) for a private spot for their couples photos. And man, just look at them! It was hard to remember that these two weren’t professional models! They were so easy to photograph as firstly, they just looked so gorgeous, and secondly you could see they were so in love and excited to be married they couldn’t take their hands off each other! After this spot, they hadn’t got bored of me yet so we took a walk through the windy path down to the old water mill.
Once we had finished, it was back to Westbury-on-Trym Village Hall to join their guests for the reception. I’ve photographed a wedding at this hall before and I think it’s a wonderful local venue, but WOW did they just transform it! The thought and detail that went in to everything was astonishing. And almost everything was totally sustainable as well! I think it’s really important to consider an eco friendly wedding when you’re planning and they had some fantastic ideas. They had a few wild cut flowers on the table, but they lined the hall with a tonne of potted plants, which is just such a great idea as you get to keep them after the wedding as well! Their table favours were a selection on teas from Pukka teas, who are Bristol based and known for their sustainable and organic business practises.
The rest of the afternoon was relaxed and wonderful. Everyone chatted and had a great time, also enjoying the outdoor space in the sun. Around late afternoon, we took a small path around the back of the village hall and headed out for a few more wedding photographs. I think it was lovely for Sam and Luke to have another 10 minutes for themselves, so with minimal input from me I just left them to it, and captured some very special and intimate moments for them.
Heading back in there were the last few formalities of the day, the cake cutting and the first dance! This was a lovely end to the day and I headed off after capturing some of the fun of the dancing. It was wonderful spending the day with such lovely people and it really was an honour to be their wedding photographer. All the happiness in the future to Sam & Luke!
